Ape Rata recognized by many as Sri Lanka’s most visited website, began in 2010 as Ape Rata.net, a Google blog platform. From its inception, the content of these articles became a topic of discussion among many. In 2010, the website was relaunched under the name Ape Rata.net
Due to its investigation of daily controversial incidents in the country along with reader discussions, and its role as a platform revealing insider information in the arts and political spheres, Ape Rata.net became a website regularly visited by readers.In a very short time, according to the internationally recognized Alexa web ranking, Gossip Lanka News made its way into the top 10 most viewed websites in Sri Lanka in February 2011. From that point until 2020, Ape Rata.net has successfully maintained its position and reader trust.
Ape Rata.net, which provided special contributions to bring fresh content to Sri Lankan web publication culture, at one time became a place that provided new topics for weekend newspapers to write arts feature articles. At another time, it became a place that brought alternative stream news.
It became a memorable place for everyone to first learn about artists’ birthdays, weddings, and funerals. It became a place where social issues could be learned about in greater detail.
Because it was a place that gave unlimited space for readers’ opinions, Gossip Lanka News generates debates in the country. With a large readership constantly connected, Gossip Lanka News became the most searched application on the internet against this backdrop.
